The European Commission presented on 18 May the REPowerEU plan to gradually end the EU's dependence on Russian fossil fuels and transform Europe's energy system.
The "European Solar Roofs Initiative" can make a significant contribution to reducing gas imports, as the production of 15 terawatt-hours of energy from new such systems could substitute 2.5 bcm of fuel by 2022, also helping consumers to reduce their energy costs.
